How to Install a New Frontend After Changing the Master Frontend

To replace the Microsoft Access front-end file that your team is using on the cloud computer with a newer version from your master front-end database, follow the steps below:

 

We recommend you first back up your database frontend by copying it into your database backups folder.

1) Single-click on your live frontend database to select it, then

2) Right-click and then select copy.

 

Next, paste the copy of your frontend into your database backups folder.

3) Single-click on your database backups folder, then

4) Right-click, then choose paste.

 

5) Double-click to open your database backups folder

 

6) Rename your latest backup file to include a date so that you can tell which backup is the most recent.

 

7) Open your Database Master Copy folder by double-clicking on it.

 

Make the changes you want to the master copy of your frontend.

Only continue with the steps below when all of your users have closed the database.

 

After you are finished making changes to the master copy of your frontend, and everyone is out of your database…

9) Right-click on the master copy of your frontend, and

10) Choose copy

 

In your shared folder…

11) Right-click somewhere in your Shared Folder and choose Paste

 

12) Choose Replace the file in the destination when the message appears. This will replace your current frontend with the master copy you have made changes to.
