Installing Your Microsoft Access Database On Your Cloud Computer

UPLOADING YOUR ACCESS DATABASE USING A BROWSER CONNECTION

  1. Login to your cloud desktop using any browser.

  2. Resize or move your browser so that you can see your database on your local computer and also see your cloud computer desktop.

  3. Drag and drop your database from your local computer to anywhere on your cloud desktop.

  4. You will see an upload progress message in the lower right.

  5. When the upload is complete, double-click the “Local Uploads” icon on your cloud desktop to see your Access database.

  6. Drag and drop your database from the Local Uploads folder onto your cloud computer desktop.

  7. Open File Explorer then click on Local Disk (C:) then open Shared Folder.

  8. Drag and drop your database from your cloud computer desktop into the Shared Folder.

  9. Right-click over your database and click Create Shortcut.

  10. Drag and drop the shortcut from the Shared Folder onto your cloud computer desktop.

  11. Place shortcuts on the cloud desktops of your all users so all of you can run your Access database at the same time.

Important Notes: There is a 1GB single file size limit when uploading by drag and drop. Folders cannot be uploaded, instead first zip up that entire folder and then upload it. If you see a message pop open on your browser asking you to allow text or images, click ‘Allow’. This will allow your keyboard features to be used on the cloud computer desktop.

UPLOADING YOUR DATABASE FROM ONLINE YOUR FILE STORAGE

  2. Place both files in the Shared Folder (C:\Shared Folder)

  3. Reset the links to your back-end from the front-end.

  4. Place a shortcut to the front-end on the desktop so it’s easy for you to launch your database.

ABOUT COMPATIBILITY

If you are using any 3rd party software in conjunction with your Access database be prepared to install it on the cloud computer as well so that your Access database will run properly. If you are using any outdated ActiveX controls you will need to replace them with modern solutions for those ActiveX features.
